Ryan Hall, Y’all@ryanhallyall The strongest heat dome on Earth right now is sitting on Tennessee. Heat makes air swell. The hotter the dome, the higher the whole atmosphere stacks up. Over Tennessee, the halfway point of the atmosphere is 19,665 feet up. That is higher than over the Sahara. Higher than the Middle East. Higher than anywhere else on the planet. Nashville hit 100 yesterday and is forecast to do it again today.

@mskarmamel @middtenn_henry it's a different kind of heat though. At the exact same temperature as previous years feels much hotter this go round. Can't explain it but we can feel it.

@copious_soul I remember a September in Kansas about 35 years ago it was in the double digits for two weeks. All the hotels in Lawrence Ks were booked by residents and people were sleeping on their roofs at night.
