📍Twenty-six years after its founding, @themocaga finally has a permanent home—a $16.4 million, 26,000 square-foot museum in the heart of @thegoatfarm. ⁠ ⁠ 🔸 Mayor Andre Dickens and roughly 200 guests attended the celebratory event. Mayor Dickens took the podium to speak, then stood side-by-side with MOCA GA co-founder and CEO Annette Cone-Skelton, to cut the ribbon on the brand new, $16.4 million, 26,000 square-foot museum. It's been two years since Mayor Dickens stood on a vacant lot at Goat Farm Arts Center, where he gave $2 million from the City of Atlanta to MOCA GA for a new museum on the site.⁠ ⁠ 🔹 MOCA GA started in 2000 with only 250 works of art donated from the corporate collection of CGR Advisors. Now, more than two decades later, MOCA GA will be able to house its entire collection of more than 1,600 works by Georgia artists. The new building, designed by Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects, has five galleries inside, an outdoor sculpture garden, an extensive archives room, library, and programming spaces. The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place in the new Antinori Theatre, a wide set of concrete steps leading down to the gallery spaces that doubles as a tiered auditorium⁠ ⁠ ➡️ Reporter Andrew Alexander and “Atlanta Magazine’s” Visuals Director Martha Williams were both at the ribbon-cutting.
