For a lot of former athletes, this time of year can bring back a lot of emotions. You spent years building your identity around a sport, and then one day, it’s over. No more practice. No more games. No more locker room. No more knowing exactly what you’re working toward every single day. I know that feeling. Football ended for me about two years ago, and I remember wondering what was next. It felt like I had spent so much of my life becoming a football player that I didn’t really know who I was without it. But looking back now, I’m grateful that football ended when it did. Not because I stopped caring about the game, but because it forced me to build a life outside of it. Since then, I’ve graduated, traveled, met people I never would have met, started my own business, worked with some incredible clients, grown creatively, strengthened my faith, and figured out things about myself that I never had the time or space to figure out while playing. I’m sharing this because I know there are athletes going through that transition right now. Your sport ending does not mean your life is over. It means you get to find out who you are beyond the sport. There’s a whole life waiting for you on the other side of it ❤️
