These are not recalls and food-safety alerts I pulled from the last several years. These have happened since JULY. This is not a carnivore vs. vegan vs. vegetarian conversation. We are talking about fruits, vegetables, eggs, meat, prepared foods, plant- based proteins and frozen foods. These issues are touching ALL of us, regardless of diet or socioeconomic status. This is not about fear. 2/5'.

Start paying attention to where your food comes from. Learn what grows in season where you live, find your local farmers and farmers markets, join a CSA if that option is accessible to you, buy locally and regionally when you can, and grow some of your own food if you have the ability. 3/5'.

Growing food is one piece of the puzzle, not the entire solution. I'm here to bring awareness, but also want to challenge you to ACTION. Find a local farm near you and learn about what they produce. See if they offer farm tours or opportunities to visit. 4/5'.

Ask questions, learn what is in your area, and when you are able, make an intentional effort to purchase some of your food directly from local producers. You do not have to change where ALL of your food comes from overnight. Start with ONE thing. One local farm. One farmers market. One seasonal food. One purchase. Get to know the people feeding your community. 5/5'.

These are just SOME of the food recalls and food-safety alerts that have occurred since JULY 2026: • Mangoes — Salmonella • Jalapeño peppers — Salmonella • Eggs — Salmonella • Alfalfa + radish sprouts — E. coli/Salmonella • Tofu — potential ink contamination • Frozen blueberries + mixed berries — E. coli • Iceberg lettuce — Cyclospora • Tomato bisque soup — Listeria Food recalls feel like they’re becoming more frequent, and at the same time, climate change is putting increasing pressure on agriculture and our food supply. I’m not saying food recalls are caused by climate change. I am saying it would be foolish to think our food system will somehow remain untouched as growing conditions, water availability, extreme weather, pests, disease pressure, and supply chains continue to change. We need to pay attention. Growing some of our own food can help us better understand the system and build more resilience, but we cannot garden our way out of larger food system problems. We still need strong agriculture, food safety systems, local producers, sound policy, and consumers who understand where their food comes from. #gardening #vegetablegarden #foodrecalls #gardens
