I’m a 16-year-old kid from Toronto who left his family, his home, and everything familiar behind to move to Miami and chase a dream of becoming a professional soccer player. I’ve been listening to your music since I was a little kid. Your music has been there for me through everything — when I’m happy, when I’m down, on the way to school, before my games, during the hardest days, basically every day of my life. There have been so many moments where your music was the thing playing in the background, and that’s why your music means way more to me than just songs. Moving to Miami wasn’t easy. Leaving my family and the people I love back in Toronto was one of the biggest sacrifices I’ve ever made. I gave up a lot of comfort and familiarity because I believe in my dream, and I’m willing to work every day for the chance to make it real. Some days I miss home like crazy, but I remind myself why I made the move and keep going. Toronto will always be home to me. Seeing you represent the city and build everything you’ve built has always meant something to me. I know you probably receive thousands of messages, so I don’t expect anything from this. I just wanted to take a chance and tell you what your music has meant to me, and hopefully one day have the opportunity to meet you or be around one of your events when I’m back in Toronto. That would be a crazy full-circle moment — a kid from Toronto who moved to Miami to chase his dream, eventually meeting the person whose music has been part of his journey the whole way.
