Rest in power, Gloria Steinem. 🕊️ I will always be grateful that I had the opportunity to meet Gloria in her home in New York. To sit in her space, speak with her, listen to her, and share in a conversation about women, leadership, and the work that still remains ahead of us. There are people whose impact is so woven into our lives that it can be easy to forget just how much they helped change what was possible for the generations who came after them. Gloria was one of those people. As a Black woman, a lesbian, and an elected leader, I know that my own journey has been made possible by generations of women who challenged the rules about who gets to lead, who gets to speak, and whose voice matters. To have had the chance to sit with one of those women, in her own home, and tell her about the work I am carrying forward was an honor I will never forget. I was scheduled to restart Govern Like a Black Feminist today. Instead, this will take its place for the day. Because today feels like a day to honor one of the women who helped make space for so many of us to govern, organize, speak up, and lead unapologetically. Thank you, Gloria, for helping generations of women imagine more for ourselves—and then demanding more from the world. Fly on Gloria. We Got This. ❤️ 👊🏾
