Every time I post the new YSL generation, the comments immediately start comparing them to Gunna and Lil Keed 😭 But this might genuinely be one of the hardest comparisons to make 🐍 The new YSL era has barely even started. Thug began rebuilding the roster after coming home, 1300SAINT joined during 2025, Tezzus and diamond* signed later that year, and the official “New Generation” rollout only properly arrived in 2026. We’re comparing artists near the beginning of their YSL run to an old roster we already watched reach its prime 🤔 And prime Gunna was different. He was one of my favourite artists of all time during that era. Bro could make an entire project rapping about drip, designer clothes and baddies, and I would run every song back ( still playing his shi to this day!!! ) 😭 That run from Drip Season 3 and Drip Harder through Drip or Drown 2, WUNNA and DS4EVER turned him into one of my favourite runs from a rapper 🙌 Lil Keed created his own wave too. He came through under Thug, but the high-pitched melodies, unpredictable vocal switches and strange ad-libs eventually became unmistakably Keed. You can still hear his influence across the newer Atlanta underground, especially throughout the wider ØWay circle 🤞🏼 So I don’t think we can properly say one generation is better yet. Old YSL already has the catalogue, achievements and two genuine legends leading it. New YSL has the chemistry and potential, but they need time to build their own Drip Season 3 or Long Live Mexico 📈 Right now though, which era are ya’ll choosing? 👀 #undergroundmusic #rap #hiphop #loadedlyricz
