Griswold | The Bernese Mountain Dog@griswold_the_bernese Django Mango 🧡 2/27/2017 – 8/4/2026 💔 After battling megacolon for more than 8 years, today the disease finally won. After countless enemas, vet visits, tears, medications, pokes, and so much more, it was finally time to say goodbye. As a former nurse, I did everything I could to help him at home and keep him comfortable. But over time, his episodes became more frequent, and he was needing sedation for deobstipation more and more often. We considered a colectomy, but after weighing the risks and the quality of life that might have followed, it wasn’t the right choice for him. So we managed his disease the best we could, until we simply couldn’t anymore. He fought so hard for so long, and in the end, he let us know he was ready. Run free, Django. Say hi to Koa, Rogue, and all of our other beloved pets waiting for you. I’ll miss hearing your little toe beans padding across the floor and always finding your way to me. Until we meet again. 💔 #megacolon #petloss #mainecooncat
