Last evening, I had the honor of attending the Union College Foundation’s 11th Annual Close the Gap Reception. Congratulations to two outstanding honorees: Beverly E. Barnes, recipient of the Community Leader of the Year Award, and my Fraternity Brother, constituent, and Union College Board member Nate Vaughn, recipient of the Frank Bolden Award. Your leadership, service, and commitment to our community are truly deserving of this recognition. For several years, the Brothers of the Omicron Chi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. have proudly partnered with the Close the Gap initiative because we understand that education transforms lives. That collective commitment has helped produce meaningful progress, including continued increases in graduation rates among African American students. These achievements are a testament to the determination of the students and the unwavering dedication of the College’s faculty, staff, partners, and community.
