I’ve said it before. I hear a lot about grieving what could have been and “what if” had we known about our autism and ADHD earlier and if the atypical female presentation had been recognised sooner in our lives. I get it. And also. For me I’m celebrating. There’s a tonne of things that might have worked out differently if I’d have known. We are a generation who had to get good fast at creating our own workarounds, digging very deep, understanding other people’s invisible struggles and hurts. I wouldn’t change that. And I’m not throwing away those gifts. If you’re a Gen X autistic or ADHD professional who is on this plot twist too and you want to thrive not just survive then stick around. I post for you.

@fodderfigure For me, it also comes down to listening to the experiences of people who were diagnosed earlier and knowing that what they had to go through would have broken me in ways that this (also imperfect and frustrating and sometimes downright traumatizing) path has not.

@mike9600ft Same, audhd here, things were different back then, much different. Many dsm changes since. I am ok with the path i went on.

@inky_nero Fairy godmother could have kicked in before I was born with autism and just made me normal
