NamSports@namibsports #Omaruru-based Onguza Bicycles unveiled a hand-built 32-inch gravel bicycle in Windhoek, presenting it as #Africa’s first locally manufactured model of its kind. 🚲 Its wheels are larger than the 29-inch size commonly used on mountain bikes, allowing them to approach potholes loose gravel at a shallower angle. Onguza’s team measures and cuts Italian tubing steel by hand before painting and completing each frame at its Omaruru workshop. Beyond the new bicycle itself, the launch highlights #Namibia’s growing ability to manufacture high-value products for international markets rather than simply exporting raw materials. Onguza now sells its hand-built bicycles overseas, showing that local specialised manufacturing can compete in the global cycling industry.
