One of the most iconic traditions of the American West will ride through the heart of Folsom on Thursday, June 25, as the 2026 National Pony Express Re-Ride makes its way down Sutter Street before concluding its 1,900-mile journey in Sacramento. Riders in authentic Old West attire are expected to arrive at the Folsom History Museum around 11:30 a.m., carrying the legendary mochila and recreating the historic mail relay that once connected California with the rest of the nation. The Folsom History Museum will be celebrating the arrival with activities for all ages, historical exhibits, opportunities to meet the riders, and free admission from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The annual re-ride began June 15 in St. Joseph, Missouri, and has traveled day and night across eight states, retracing the original Pony Express route from 1860. This year’s event is especially meaningful as it is part of America 250 celebrations honoring the nation’s 250th anniversary. After leaving Historic Folsom, the riders will continue to Pony Express Plaza in Old Sacramento, where the final rider is expected to arrive around 4:30 p.m. for the official conclusion ceremony.
