It can be the canary in the coal-mine for an industry that does tremendous harm (but therefore has an opportunity to make tremendous impact) for both people and planet! Defences against environmental crime are only as strong as the weakest link in a country or region 🦤🦤🦤 @earthleagueint The IUCN has a ‘Red List’ ❌that’s got the species they classify as Critically Endangered. That number is over 10,000 as it includes plants. 🌱 Around 4,000 of those are animals. And around 250 of those are mammals. 🦍🐯🐘🦁🐅🦛🦧🦦🐋🐈⬛ In the top ten most endangered- there is the Javan Rhino, Amur Leopard and Gobi bear (check out the Gobi he is so cute). 🦏🐆🐻 The Javan Rhino’s horn 🦏is worth more than its weight in gold 😔 so that’s why a quarter of the population was poached not too long ago @EdgeGroupConservation Of the rhino species 🦏 (5 in total) 3 are on the critically endangered list 😳 BUT one, the Indian one horned rhino, used to be on the list and now is only ‘vulnerable’ thanks to great conservation efforts! 👏🏽 Sustainability is SO back.
