Twilight Trails 🌖 I love this type of photography. It feels like you’re painting a digital image but the vehicle is your brush. Here’s how to do it 👇🏼 Set up your tripod somewhere with a road leading through your composition. Roads with good curves or switchbacks are my favorites. Shoot manual. Aperture around f/4 to f/11, ISO 100 or as low as you can, shutter speed somewhere between 5-20 seconds. Time it for blue hour, that 15 to 20 minute window after sunset where the sky still has color but it’s dark enough for headlights to glow. Too early and the trails won’t show. Too late and the lack of sky/landscape visible will make it boring and blown out by car lights (my cover shot worked well because it was a full moon). Press the shutter the second a car enters the frame. White lines come from headlights, red lines from taillights. The slower the car, the brighter the trail.
