During Migos’ July 31, 2015 appearance on The Breakfast Club, Quavo and Takeoff sat down with Charlamagne Tha God, Angela Yee and DJ Envy while Offset was still incarcerated. Quavo naturally handled much of the longer conversation, leaving Takeoff to repeatedly jump in from beside him with short reactions, confirmations and the same kind of ad-libs that had already become central to Migos’ sound. As the interview progresses, Takeoff can be heard punctuating answers with brief phrases like “cap,” “just wait on it,” and other quick interjections rather than taking over the conversation himself. Years later, fans began editing those scattered responses together, making it appear as though Takeoff had communicated almost exclusively through ad-libs for the entire interview. The resurfaced edit became especially funny because his timing feels perfectly natural even when every response is stripped down to only a few words. That understated presence was always part of Takeoff’s role within Migos. While Quavo was often the group’s most vocal spokesman, Takeoff regularly stayed quieter in interviews before delivering some of the trio’s most technically impressive verses on record. The viral Breakfast Club edit turned that reserved personality into the joke itself: Takeoff seemingly needing nothing more than a handful of perfectly placed Migos ad-libs to participate in an entire conversation.
