We all know of Cooper Flagg, No. 1 draft pick and NBA Rookie of the Year, basketball standout and the current face of Maine. But how about Cooper Flagg, businessman and entrepreneur? That’s what we have now with the opening of the Flagg Trading Company in downtown Bangor. The store is the brainchild of Cooper and his cousin, Tyler Flagg, and their shared love of collecting sports cards. They’ve been talking about opening this store for about a year. They considered doing it in Cooper’s hometown of Newport, but Bangor offered more visibility and foot traffic. A store in downtown Bangor can be another piece of Cooper’s goal of being a statewide positive influence, Tyler said. “Our biggest thing was adding to the community. We see a lot of potential in downtown Bangor. There’s so much to be done down here,” Tyler said as he and Cooper hosted a soft opening of the store Friday night. “I know there’s bars and this and that around here, which are all fun and games, but (this is) a spot where people can all hang out, just chill and bring positive vibes to the community.” Story by Travis Lazarczyk.
