Finley Cruger and Ryan Hobson have Bumble—and a little bit of fate—to thank for their union. While the two matched on the dating app in the summer of 2017, it wasn't the first time they'd crossed paths. Both attended Hamilton College in New York, graduating a year apart, and though they hadn't known each other well on campus, they knew enough to feel comfortable to meeting up in Boston. Their relationship soon spanned state lines when Ryan relocated to New York while Finley finished grad school in Massachusetts. The couple later spent several years together in New York before setting their sights on a return to the Boston area. During a visit back to the city, Ryan popped the question on a Seaport dock, turning their apartment-hunting trip into a milestone moment. As they began planning their wedding, Finley knew she wanted an outdoor celebration, but fretted about New England’s unpredictable weather. They booked the Garden at Elm Bank (@elmbankevents) because it offered both outdoor celebration spaces and a beautiful indoor reception area that still felt connected to nature.
