Boston Magazine @bostonmagazine Kelsey Barrasso and Kelsey Barrett's love story started with a broken ankle. After slipping on a patch of ice over Christmas, Barrett found herself cooped up at her family's house near Sugarbush Resort in Vermont. Feeling bored and missing her home in Boston, she downloaded Hinge. Barrasso messaged her and said, "Hey, nice name"—and the rest is history. After many, many more dates and living in the Somerville area together for five years, Barrasso knew she wanted to be the one to propose first. In April 2024, she shoveled through the aftermath of an unexpected spring snowstorm so she could surprise Barrett with a proposal in the backyard of her stepdad’s Vermont home. But two proposals are better than one. “I wanted to propose back to Kelsey,” Barrett says, “so then it was like, all right, now my turn.” In July 2024, at a belated housewarming party at their new Peabody home, she proposed to Barrasso in front of an audience of friends and family. When it came time to think about where they would say "I do," there was no question that it would be none other than Sugarbush.
