⛈️ 𝑯𝒆𝒏𝒓𝒚’𝒔 𝑾𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒍 @henrysweatherchannel What was a disaster start to the season in the giant pumpkin patch turned into a comeback for the ages and now it's over just like that for this pumpkin. If you've been following me for a while, you've known that I've been a competitive giant pumpkin grower for 11 years. I've grown a 1349 pound pumpkin in 2023, Landed myself in the Guinness World Records book for the largest butternut squash grown in 2021 at 65.5 pounds and have had a pumpkin on a reality TV show. Soil disease has been a major issue in this patch over the years while using fungicides to fight it, and I was lucky to get pumpkins to competitive weigh offs across New England over the years with my biggest pumpkin I've ever grown at 1349 pounds and multiple over 1,000 pounds. Disease has taken 1 out of 2 pumpkins out of my patch today. This pumpkin was growing 30 pounds a day and was on track for over 1,000 pounds. I've got 1 pumpkin remaining but it's not looking good as disease has started to hit that plant. Growing these things is a full time job during the summer with over 1,000 hours of work spent this year. It's always a fight. Keeping my fingers crossed for the last pumpkin in the patch and appreciate all of the support 🙏

@ms.janellesneighborschool Oh no, I'm so sorry!! We're continuously impressed by you. We struggle to grow any pumpkins over here on Colrain Road, and when we do, the squirrels snack on them. 🤦🏼♀️ Your passion & dedication are inspiring!
@kimboulay I understand the fight. I've been trying to manage bugs, fungus, and bacterial wilt all while trying to stay organic. It's not easy. Good luck.

@livin.with.livia I just lost an entire plant to something. Everything began to turn yellowish orange. I understand the pain. Were you able to figure out the disease? Make sure it isn’t contracted through the soil or will stay in the soil over time !!
